Qld: Severe thunderstorms head for Brisbane

BRISBANE, Dec 12 AAP - The weather bureau has issued a severe thunderstorm warning
for South-East Queensland this afternoon.

The bureau said that at 3.30pm (AEST), severe thunderstorms were detected on the radar
near Ipswich, west of Brisbane, and at Archerfield, Upper Brookfield and Enoggera Reservoir.

They were forecast to affect Brisbane CBD, Samford, Aspley and Albany Creek by 4.05pm
(AEST) and the northern and northwestern suburbs of Strathpine, Kallangur, Narangba and
Dayboro by 4.35pm (AEST).

Very heavy rain, flash flooding and damaging winds were likely and people were advised
to take shelter, move cars under cover and secure loose items outdoors.
