WA: Mine worker third lightning victim in four days
PERTH, Jan 17 AAP - A truck driver from Rio Tinto's Robe River iron ore operations
was recovering today in Port Hedland Hospital after being struck by lightning yesterday.
The incident, which left the driver with minor burns, follows two fatal lightning strikes
over the weekend in which another truckie and a mine manager died.
The Department of Minerals and Energy said that in the latest incident, a man had been
sheltering beside a truck about 6.30pm yesterday at the Mesa-J mine when a lightning bolt
hit the vehicle.
